Thought of the Day
I hope I can translate an idea in my head into something that the reader can understand. Here we go:
We need a universally accepted, U.N. sponsored, definition of terrorism. When freedom fighters trying to liberate their occupied land are labelled terrorists they are left with no choice but to fight to the bitter end. Let me explain this to my foreign readers in drinking terms that they might understand drawing on my experience as a northern Arab. A Christian invites his Muslim friend to a drink. If the Muslim accepts the invitation, he knows he is breaking an important tenet of his religion. Once he takes the first drink he goes all the way because the sin, in the eyes of his God, is the same . The Christian, on the other hand, takes one drink or two, knowing that he can drink again the next day without any feeling of guilt or expectation of punishment. The freedom fighter who knows he is going to be viewed and treated as a terrorist (sinner) goes all the way. If he had been treated as a freedom fighter he would fight and negotiate.

Well said Jihad, on your reply to Ghadry. He is a dangerous piece of work. He's a Lebanese-American who became Syria three years ago. And as you rightly pointed out, he is a one-man political party (although he does have a lot of Israeli/American support).
I am nervous about writing about him, because it just fuels the fire. He knows how to play the system, and by courting controversy, he's getting the publicity he craves. Look - how else would he have got a mention in Al Hayat.
Ignoring the little rat is the best response. And the one that will make him most angry.
Best wishes,
Sasa, the Syria News Wire.
Respected Khazen,
I understand your reasoning regarding drinking (Every intoxicant is Khamr so every intoxicant is Haraam, both in Saheeh Bjkhari and Muslim). Beyond that, your reasoning does not apply to your freedom fighters who kill civilians and are suicide bombers. You are violating Qur'anic principle, aren't you?
Al-Qur'an states that you are not to kill yourselves. Rasool Muhammad never engaged a battle against women and children. He did move into a narrow valley and watched them nearly starve to death while opposed by the Quraysh while residing in Makkah.
If you cannot justify it based on the rope of Allah, then you need to go back to the drawing board.
Sahih Bukhari, if I could type.
Here is another one for you:
Al-Baqarah 195 And do not throw yourselves into destruction with your own hands.
A1-Nisaa' 29: And do not kill yourselves for Allah is indeed merciful to you.
Don't forget the admonition in the beginning of the ayah: "Oh ye who believe, do not eat up your property". So warfare requires that the landscape and property be free of violence as much as possible. So when the Shi'a blow up a Sunni masjid and vice-versa, when a marketplace is blown to smithereens you are destroying property which belongs to the Ummah.
Either believe the book in entirety, or walk away.

I dont think Sunnis and shias blew mosques in the beginning , it was the Mercenaries working for the US (160.000 of them , many Not even Americans hoping to get the US passeport , some are iraqi Criminals doing a job they are paid for , they have done it in Vietnam in 1967 in the phoenix Program . the french also blew up Markets in Algeria , to blame the insurgency . the resistances needs food , support and accomodation among the people if the US manage to tarnish their reputation (by blaming them for killing civilians ) their support will diminish . the resistance has never took responsibility for many bombings that took place via a remote control many in iraq are sure of it .
the Death squads have been trained in South America by the US and we know what happened in honduras and elsewhere .
