I haven't had a Thought of the Day for some time now. I have been travelling. After meeting Mr Andel Ilah el Khatib, the foreign minister of Jordan, in Amman, I met Syrian Vice President Farouq Sharaa in Damascus. I also met there with Dr. Ramadan Shallah of Islamic Jihad and Khaled Mashaal, head of Hamas. I oppose suicide bombings and have always urged the Palestinians to stop this practice. I once again told Mr. Mashaal that they must declare an end to all suicide bombings. I said that in his office, over dinner, and not from the safety of my office in London. Still, Hamas is a national liberation movement against the Israeli occupation. It is not terrorist; the terrorists are in the Israeli government.
I also had a two-hour private meeting with President Bashar Assad and later consulted in Beirut with the Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora, an old friend. I will write what is not off-record material starting tomorrow.
After all my meetings in three Arab capitals I am better informed and more confused than ever.

this confusion is deliberate, it's called "the fog of imminent war", courtesy of the DOD, the Pentagon and
FDDC, to keep everyone guessing...
I can assure everyone that the IRAN attack is imminent, and that there is no way on earth to stop it, short of divine intervention.... All the rest is... sand in the eyes as we say in our neck of the woods Mr. Khazen...

Islam does not have a jurisprudential history of suicide or suicide bombers from what I can see of any of their schools of thought, much less Al-Qur'an or as-Sihaah, as-Sittah. Surely al-Hutamah, which draws in its breath and crushes to pieces, will be the reward of some of the suicide bombers. (al-Mulk 67:7)Personally, if Allah is just, then recompense will be made toward those who kill women and children.
As far as imminent attack on Iran,not sure where that long shot is coming from.

Having a conflict is far more useful to the Palestinians then a solution will ever be.
If the Pals made a real peace they would be responsible for health care, jobs, and ending poverty. They know they cant do that, because they steal all the aid the EU, U.S and Asia give them. This is why they need a conflict to divert attention to this.

For years, he kept trying to say the way to peace for Syria and Turkey was for Turkey to give up Hatay.
Almost two years ago, a historic event happened that Mr Seale doesn't want to talk about.
The Syrian regime recognized for the first time, that Alexandretta (Hatay) is sovereign Turkish territory.
This after dozens of years where Syria strongly demanded Turkish withdrawal from this area.
For dozens of years, Turkey was unwilling to discuss any kind of compromise in Alexandretta. It never expressed a willingness to cede Alexandretta in exchange
for peace. It never negotiated a withdrawal from Alexandretta. Its attitude was clear and simple. Alexandretta is ours. Period.
The same posters on here would have demanded Turkey surrender Alexandretta to terrorist Syria.
The Golan was never part of Syria before 1946. The Golan was part of the British Mandate borders of 1917 that was supposed to go to Israel.
As Turkey showed, the way to peace, is Peace for Peace.

The Kurds in Syria
The Kurdish people in Syria have been subjected to racist Arabist policies since 1962. The Kurdish areas have been Arabised. The Kurdish people in Western Kurdistan have been deprived on there land, language, Identity, civil and human rights and dignity.
Two hundred thousand Kurds are denied nationality and passports and are registered as "aliens". This theoretically deprives them the right to marry, buy property and get employed. The Arabist racist Ideology and regime in Syria does not recognize Kurdish indentity. The word "Kurd" is not mentioned in Syrian media.
Not only are Kurdish history and culture are excluded from school syllabuses, they are repressed and banned.
The use of Kurdish language is not allowed. Few months ago a number of Kurdish artists in the Kurdish city of Qamishly applied to Syrian authorities for setting up a Kurdish music group. They were not given permission. They were harassed and intimidated.
A Kurdish family in Qamishly 6 months ago was threatened with six months in jail for naming there newborn baby Azad. They were forced to accept the name that the Arab registration office chose for their baby: Izz-al-din!
In December 2002 about 100 kurds demonstrated in front of Syrian parliament in Damascus. They only asked for recognition of the Kurds as equal citizens, recognition, identity and culture. But two of the organisers who are known Kurdish writers, have been imprisoned and tortured. Arabist racist ideology is not capable of tolerating difference and diversity.

I’m told by Intelligence sources that while Rafic Hariri was in the US visiting Donald Rumsfeld, he mentions Koley'at Airport again... but an agreement failed to materialize again.Hariri was approached by US Intelligence earlier and had refused categorically to discuss US rights for an Air Base in North Lebanon, specifically the Koleiat Airport. Rafic Hariri was eyeing a pristine stretch of beach front land properties north of Tripoli , stretching for miles inland and into the hills behind it, and north to AKKAR . These beaches are of an immense value for a developer and Hariri had huge plans for the area,after he finds a permanent solution to settle the Palestinian refugees elsewhere. He had specific plans for that too, but did not want any Syrian meddling into these monumental projects, and local SUNNI traditional Leaderships did not like very much Hariri having an eye on these areas, especially that if he were to develop such properties, immense benefits for the area would ensue, with thousands of jobs at stake and economic development for an area desperate for investment and jobs. Had he succeeded in getting these projects off the ground, Rafic Hariri would have threatened the local traditional Sunni leaders of Tripoli, and his hegemonistic leadership on the Sunnis in Lebanon would have been almost complete.... but Rafic refused to play ball with the Americans and he wanted to develop that particular airport himself and turn it into a major international tourist hub, after building huge projects in the area . In order to protect his new "turf" and his potential Mega-investments in the North Lebanon, he resorted to a dangerous tactic, traditional to his Saudi Mentors.... Extreme Sunni local tribes, "turned Jihadists" in order to scare overseas investors and Imperial Hubris from poking in his projected new investment territories, and keep everyone away from the "prize"....the end result is what we see today in the North Of Lebanon, in Nahr Al-Bared and in all of the areas stretching from Jubeil, all the way to Kleiat and Akkar....[ watch and learn from the New Hollywoodian long Film, Unfold in front of your very eyes...]

When this approach with Hariri failed, the US turned to another local Sunni with strong ties to the Syrians...What I can tell you is that 4 years ago, a Lebanese middleman approached then Transport Minister Najib Mikati and told him the US is very keen on Koley'at. Mikati went to see his Syrian mentors (Makhloufs) and tried to woo them by promising riches ensuing from modernization work on the airport and basing rights for the US Air Force and NATO etc. At first the Syrians were willing to play, then US-Syrian relations soured.... for a while..... a tug of war is sure to unfold here, and the winners will have a big prize.
